Intro + Oat Milk
When I was 11 I tried to keep a virtual diary. I could not tell you what website it was on, or how long I kept it for, but I can tell you I’d be humiliated if it ever resurfaced. Writing my own thoughts out on a web page feels like that, even now.
This isn’t like that though! Welcome to my intentional blog. I’ll be posting cooking recipes, skill share, reflections, writing. You name it!
First up- a recipe most people have come across already: OAT MILK.
Ingredients:
1 cup of rolled oats
1 cup (roughly) of cold water
4 Quarts of water
Pinch of sea salt
(optional): dash of vanilla and/or maple syrup
Instructions:
Soak 1 cup of rolled oats in (roughly) 1 cup of cold water. It should just be enough to cover the oats. Let the oats soak for approx. 15 minutes, then drain.
Using whatever machinery you blend your kitchen liquids with, blend the oats, pinch of sea salt, and any optional ingredients into 4 quarts of water.
Strain using a cheese cloth (fine mesh sieve works too, just will have a lot more “pulp”).
BONUS: use your remaining oat pulp to make oat bites or a customized facemask.
Combine oat pulp with any of the following and apply to the face for 5-10 minutes: turmeric, contents of a tea bag after you’ve finished steeping, honey, avocado, etc.
